The hazelnut pollinizer developed at Oregon State, named 'Felix', is from a cross of 'OSU 384.095' x 'Delta'.
Tree Vigor and Growth Habit
'Felix' will produce trees that are 100+% of Barcelona. 'Felix' trees will be more upright and vase shaped.
'Felix' is highly resistant to Eastern Filbert Blight.
'Felix' roots well in layering beds. They can also be produced by TC, softwood cuttings, and from suckering.
'Felix' nut yields are low, and some adhere to husks, rendering Felix unsuitable as a main cultivar. 'Felix' releases its pollen late in the season and is considered to be compatible with most cultivars making it useful as a pollinizer.
