  • M-9 Pajam 2® is a patented rootstock that came from the CTIFL program out of France, and is controlled by a company named SICASOV.

  • Trees grown on M-9 Pajam 2® will be similar to trees on EMLA 9 but with better rooting. This rootstock will produce a tree about 35% of standard in most cases.

  • M-9 Pajam 2® is resistant to collar rot (Phytophthora cactorum) but like EMLA 9 it is susceptible to mildew in the nursery. Because of this a regular spray program is recommended. M-9 Pajam 2® is also similar to other clones on M-9 in its susceptibility to fire blight.

  • In the layer beds, M-9 Pajam 2® and M-9 Nic® 29 seems to produce better rooting than other selections of M-9s. This better performance seems to carry on into the nursery when growing the trees. With these two rootstocks, the trees develop a larger caliper trunk with better branching compared to other M-9 selections.

  • When considering a high density orchard the M-9 Pajam 2® rootstock would be a good choice if you’re looking for a vigorous M-9.
